Indfor’s Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) scheme, which accounts for 110,000ha of certified forest, was previously audited by the Soil Association but a dispute between the two recently led Indfor to switch to Control Union (TTJ February 4/11).

Control Union’s audit resulted in the issuing of three minor conditions relating to fly tipping/contractors’ waste, self-billing invoices and bio-degradable oil, which Indfor says have now been addressed with letters going out to group members.

David Ogg, Indfor managing director, said: “The audit has clearly confirmed the robustness of the group scheme and the integrity of the group systems.”

Control Union is also to conduct an audit of Infor’s group chain of custody scheme.

Meanwhile, Mr Ogg hopes his newly-set up company TimberCheck (Forestry Certification) Ltd will receive accreditation as an FSC-certifier within the next month.
