Around 12.4 million m3 of timber was imported, a decline of 853,000m3 on the year before. The was accounted for by falls in roundwood, sawn wood and wood-based panels.
The total volume of wood exports rose to 1.8 million m3, worth £6.1bn.
A total of 3 million m3 of sawn wood and 3.5 million m3 of wood-based panels were manufactured in the UK, a year-on-year increase of 4% and 3% in respectively.
