A number of UK garden centres, internet furniture sellers and wood importers have been named in a new report highlighting illegal logging.
The Environmental Investigation Agency/Telepak report claims that illegal wood is finding its way into the UK as garden furniture from Vietnam.
Investigations focus on keruing and balu outdoor furniture processed in Vietnam, with the wood sourced, EIA says, from across Indochina.
The report says many of the UK companies make claims about selling certified balau and keruing products, but when questioned in detail could not provide proper evidence of certification.
