A review of the Irish Forest Industry Chain‘s (IFIC) structure and role is to be undertaken over the next two months.

The decision was taken at IFIC’s AGM in Dublin last month where the newly appointed vice-chairman Joe O’Carroll said the organisation needed to reinvent itself to better service members’ needs in light of constant policy and regulatory changes affecting Ireland’s forest industry.

New chairman George McCarthy said: “The last few months have seen dramatic changes to the operating environment in which forestry companies and organisations must function.”

The review will focus on setting priorities and delivering value for money from all activities undertaken or funded by IFIC which represents all the principal players in Ireland’s forest supply chain.

Mr McCarthy also pledged to forge new and sronger links between IFIC, its executive, and state departments and agencies.
