Timber and builders merchant Huws Gray has made a positive start to the year with the announcement of a new branch in Rhuddlan, near Rhyl in north Wales.

The acquisition of the former John Hughes Roofing Supplies site at Marsh Road in Rhuddlan takes the number of branches throughout north Wales, Shropshire and the north-west to 33.

“Whilst our acquisition of Ainscough Building Supplies near Wigan in August 2010 further enhanced our presence in north-west England, as a company we are delighted to be able to add another Welsh location to our branch network,” said Huws Gray managing director Terry Owen.

“The location in Rhuddlan is a perfect fit for us in terms of location and business potential,” he continued.

The Rhuddlan branch will sell heavyside and lightside materials, as well as continuing the former company’s roofing interests.

“It will be a one-stop shop for all your building needs and we can’t wait to get the site ready for all our customers,” said Mr Owen.

Recruitment for the new branch is under way, as is an extensive refurbishment programme. The branch is expected to open to public and trade customers in March.
