Howie Forest Products Ltd has delivered a record amount of timber for one day, reaching over 1,000m³ on Monday.

The company distributed 1,057m³ during the day, with Thursday looking like it could beat that figure, according to sales director Keith Ainslie

Mr Ainslie added that Howie had achieved record results in January and February and that March was shaping up to go the same way.

“I think a lot of companies have suddenly realised that it’s the Bank holiday weekend this week and that they’d better get some timber in,” he said.

“We’re working hard to make sure we have stocks on the ground and that they’re ready to go out to customers.”

Earlier in the year, Mr Ainslie told TTJ that he was “cautiously optimistic about the outlook for 2008” and that “although there is still a lot of timber available in the UK, the specifications are not well balanced and gaps are already appearing”.
