Timber Trades Benevolent Society (TTBS) president Dilwyn Howells was re-elected for a second term of office at the organisation’s annual general meeting on May 10.

The society’s vice-president and treasurer Malcolm Cowley was re-elected in both roles.

Long-serving TTBS trustee John Huckman officially retired his post at the meeting. A trustee since 2001, Mr Huckman was thanked for his dedication over the years and also, more latterly, for deputising for senior trustee Barry Lewis during his recent ill health, which had been critical in maintaining the trustees overall management.

Mr Huckman said he’d been “greatly privileged” to be a trustee and that he would remain involved with TTBS through the Bristol Region Committee.

Former TTBS president David Francis was elected as a trustee. In proposing his appointment, Mr Huckman said Mr Francis was “well respected throughout the trade and the TTBS Regions” and that, together with Malcolm Cowley and Sue Rowland, he had revived the London & Home Counties TTBS Region.

Last year TTBS beneficiaries received benefits and grants totalling £103,333.
