Howarth Timber Importers is offering help to companies wanting to achieve chain of custody certification.
The New Holland-based business was one of the first in the timber industry to gain chain of custody accreditation and training manager Peter Kelly said it now wants to offer the experience to others.
He said: “Certification is coming whether you to choose to ignore it or not. We are offering informative training identifying the pitfalls and benefits of chain of custody certification.
“We can talk through the principles and process and what sort of things companies are likely to encounter so they can go away and decide how serious they are about going through with it.”
The workshops spell out what chain of custody is and why it is necessary. The main features and differences of the Forest Stewardship Council and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes are explained and the practical issues involved are dealt with along with an explanation about government policy on sustainable purchasing and CPET.
The workshops will be held at the company’s New Holland premises.
