The fund-raising day, attended by customers, suppliers and staff, took place at the Elland Cricket Club in West Yorkshire, culminated in a showpiece 20/20 match between a team of former England legends and Howarth Timber’s Timberwolves.
The legends team comprised Mark Ramprakash, Phil Defreitas, Paul Nixon, Devon Malcolm, Anthony McGrath, Alex Tudor, Andy Caddick, Richard Blakey, Gavin Hamilton, Dominic Cork and Chris Schofield. The Howarth Timberwolves consisted of young, local talent and a lucky Howarth Timber customer, Tim Cartwright, who won a competition to join the team.
The match was won by the legends team.
Before the match the attendees were treated to a Q&A from the former professionals, a cricket memorabilia auction and a set from stand-up comedian Gary Marshall.
"We’re proud to be a local company, which is why events like this that engage with the local community are so important to us," said marketing and product development manager Neale Brewster.
