Simpson Strong-Tie and MiTek Industries Ltd have joined forces to educate Howarth Timber Engineering and its customers on how to create a floor from their products.

Simpson Strong-Tie’s Engineered Timber Division (ETD) held two one-day workshops at its Tamworth factory for Howarth staff members and their customers, allowing them to combine Simpson Strong-Tie’s connectors with MiTek’s Posi-Joists to form a mock floor.

Attendees were also given a tour of the Tamworth factory, where they watched hangers being manufactured.

“Partnering with MiTek has helped us bring a new dimension to the event through demonstrating how the whole process fits together resulting in the creation of a floor,” said Stuart McBean, sales manager for ETD.

“This signifies our continued commitment to raising standards and investing in training to ensure our customers are able to build on their own expertise in our products and, in turn, are able to get the most from them.”

Howarth said the day had proved positive for those in attendance, with everyone learning something.

“When the ‘enhanced understanding dividend’ is as pronounced as that, taking busy designers, technicians and sales personnel out of the office or off the road for a day is justified several times over,” said Howarth product manager John Lelieveld.
