Howarth Windows & Doors can now offer windows rated as A, B and C under the British Fenestration Rating Council’s energy rating scheme.

The Lincolnshire-based manufacturer offers C-rated windows as standard, but says it has responded to demand for higher energy ratings by incorporating EcoClear sealed units from Solaglas.

“We target the domestic replacement and private new build markets as well as the public sector and across the board we’ve noticed the increased awareness and importance of energy rated windows,” said general manager Alan Shearer. “In the domestic sector homeowners are recognising the benefits of energy rated products and Housing Associations are working towards specifying better energy performing windows as standard. It therefore made sense for our business to move in line with the market.”

Solaglas, which is part of the Saint-Gobain Glass Solutions network, launched EcoClear last year. An A rating is achieved by using a sealed unit with one pane of SGG Diamant low iron, extra-clear glass, the new SGG Planitherm Total high performance low-e glass, Swisspacer V warm edge spacer bar and 90% argon gas filling.
