Mr Malthouse is responsible for housing and home ownership and for planning and development in England. Specific policies such as Help to Buy, affordable and social housing, Building Regulations and the National Planning Policy Framework come under his portfolio. He is the minister tasked with increasing the housing supply to fulfil his government’s pledge to build 300,000 new homes a year by the mid-2020s.

“We are extremely pleased that the housing minister will attend our annual members’ conference,” said John Newcomb, BMF chief executive officer. “Housing remains a key construction issue and builders merchants and their customers play a vital role in the supply chain both to deliver new homes and to upgrade existing housing stock.”
