MDF mouldings could be in for one of their best-ever sales years in 2006, according to W Howard Ltd.

The Manchester-based manufacturer of Primer Mould primed MDF mouldings said its monthly sales were already running 25% up on last year’s record growth rates.

Ced Piper, W Howard business development manager, said: “Though we’ve planned for considerable growth, investing several million pounds in new plant, warehousing and distribution over the last two to three years, and raising our target by 25% each of the last two years, we can’t help but be amazed at the current strength of the orders that we are winning.”

W Howard has been actively promoting Primer Mould through trade advertising and exhibitions, as well as a new catalogue, but Mr Piper said “there’s clearly a strong and growing demand for MDF mouldings.”

The company has seen also a shift in its orders from a traditional 50-50 split between its 120-strong core range and made-to-order products to 70-30 in favour of the core range.

Mr Piper said order volumes and values had increased due to a wider core range offering and the ability to offer split pack business for smaller requirements.
