Timber frame has been used to construct 43 flats and 15 townhouses in Croydon as part of a £140m five-year affordable housing programme.

Guildford Timber Frame designed, manufactured and erected timber frame systems for Horizon Housing Group’s Warwick Court development on the site of a former waterworks.

External walls comprised 89mm stud frames, breather foil, 9mm OSB external sheathing and an internal finish of plasterboard. Floor cassettes in the flats featured 250mm deep Masonite beams, while the townhouse floors consisted of 220mm deep timber joists.

Horizon Housing Group’s Shared Horizons programme aims to build more than 1,000 affordable homes for shared ownership throughout London and the south-east.
