More than 90% of homebuyers want to minimise the environmental impact of their home and, if offered a choice of materials, more see timber as offering the strongest environmental credentials, according to a survey of 1,000 US homebuyers.

The US Wood Information Bureau’s coast-to-coast probe found that 47% agreed with the statement ‘wood is an excellent renewable resource’, 15% strongly agreed with the statement, 20% disagreed and 16% strongly disagreed.

The US Wood Promotion Network is encouraging wood products companies to publicise the survey’s findings among their customers.
