Atlanta-based DIY company Home Depot has clinched a deal with Canada’s Tembec for more Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) spruce pine fir to sell.

The move is in line with Home Depot’s purchasing policy which gives preferential treatment to suppliers offering certified wood products.

Home Depot vice-president Ron Jarvis said the company sells more FSC certified wood than anyone in North America. He added that Tembec’s commitment to sustainable forestry and the FSC endorsement made for a strong partnership.

Jim Lewis of Tembec said the agreement will strengthen the two companies’ business relationship and improve the market penetration of FSC certified products.
