Timber from one of the most famous ships in British naval history is being sold off and made into furniture and other artefacts.
Around 34 tonnes of oak have been stripped from HMS Victory in dry dock at Portsmouth over the past eight years. The re-moval of the timber is part of a preservation programme for the his-toric ship. A company called Victory Ltd has bought all the timber from the Royal Navy and is to oversee the programme.
Jonathon Bowman, managing director of Victory Ltd, said a table and eight dining chairs could fetch as much as £15,000.
