The company is shortlisted in two categories – financial management and most improved company – of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers’ Manufacturing Excellence 2012 awards.

David O’Neill, production director of HK Timbers, said the shortlisting was due to staff commitment.

“The company already has a leading position in the vegetable storage solutions market and we are working hard to strengthen and develop the business in current and new markets,” he said.

Manufacturing Excellence assessors and moderators visited the HK Timbers plant on September 5 and winners will be announced at the Manufacturing Excellence Award ceremony at the Dorchester in London on November 27.

“HK Timbers is a great business which is helping to keep manufacturing at the heart of the Lincolnshire economy,” said Philippa Oldham, head of manufacturing at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
