A Hirzt Livra 4 point-to-point borer has enabled kitchen and bedroom furniture manufacturer and retailer Kitchen Creation to maximise the use of space in its factory.

The borer has been installed at the company’s manufacturing arm Leangrange Ltd, saving 18m² in its 20,000ft² factory in County Durham.

It is being used to manufacture carcassing, timber doors and fascias, with Leangrange producing 35-40 kitchens a week.

The Hirzt machine is the first to be supplied to the UK by newly appointed agent RW Machines Ltd, and replaces an equivalent Bussellato machine.

“All the new health and safety equipment that you must have on or around a machine boring from the top takes up so much more space,” said Leangrange director Mark Bunting.

“With the new Hirzt, we get the improved performance in terms of cut precision and controllability, and a machine that fits into a space of around half the floor area that was being used before.”

RW Machines said it hoped the installation at Leangrange would be the first of many that would “deliver the same advantages of compact size, reliability and improved performance to this country’s smaller specialist manufacturers”.
