Auctioneer Chris Price of Edward Symmons said bidding was “lively”, with standing room only at the November 29 event. More than 950 lots went under the hammer and the sale finished at 7.15pm.

The highest value attained for an individual item was £47,000 for an SCM CNC machining centre and £29,000 for a Fosroc timber treatment plant.

The auction was carried out on behalf of administrators Grant Thornton and a major finance company. Baltic Conservatories’ premises are also up for sale.

More than 190 staff were laid off by administrators at the company after the business suffered financial problems and quality control issues.
