John Stockill, the founder of Leicestershire-based H&S Timber Systems, has sold his majority shareholding to Midlands-based timber merchants Harlow Brothers having decided to take early retirement.

The company will continue to trade as H&S Timber Systems, manufacturing timber roof trusses, build packs, timber frame and engineered wood products and providing supply and fix packages for major contracts. David Stockill has been promoted to managing director and will oversee the day-to-day running of the business.

As well as importing and merchanting, Harlow Brothers has a strong manufacturing interest, supplying prefabricated timber frame buildings for the agricultural and equestrian markets both in the UK and abroad. The company has more than 70 years’ experience in business.

Both companies are family-owned and David Stockill said: ‘We are now in a position where we can offer a much wider service using the expertise of Harlow Brothers to meet all our client requirements, whether housebuilder or commercial developer, for manufacture or supply.’
