Trussed Rafter Association member Harlow Timber Systems undertook the contract at the headquarters of Campbell Scientific near Loughborough.
The extension to the production facility and administration offices involved providing a pedestrian link between an existing upper-level and the loft storage space in the new building. This required a series of mono valley sets with flying rafters.
The attic trusses span 11.5m with a 30O pitch. Despite a central steel beam for support, the structure still required a 225mm deep bottom chord and 200mm deep rafters.
More than 50 trusses were required to create the 28.5m long roof space.
