Glentrothes-based timber manufacturer Haldane UK is attributing a 100% hike in profits to a new management regime.

The company says the result has been won by implementing ‘five principles of world class manufacturing’: only do the value work as defined by the customer; make all the actions flow from this; only make what is required by the customer; build quality into the process; and strive for perfection.

Haldane managing director Forrester Adam said the increased profits – the value of which are not being disclosed – will be re-invested ‘to eradicate waste in other areas of the business’.
