Northern Ireland-based Haldane Fisher believes it is the first timber importing company in the whole of Ireland to attain FSC and PEFC chain of custody certification.

Haldane Fisher’s David McVeigh said some panel importers, agents and companies that machined timber did already have certification, but no other Irish timber importers were mentioned on the FSC and PEFC lists of certified companies.

“Accreditation allows us to continually audit our suppliers’ environmental practices and the sources of raw materials used in the manufacture of their wood products,” said Mr McVeigh. “This forms an integral part of our purchasing strategies.”

Haldane Fisher has 12 branches in Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and England.
