US-based H Window Company has achieved Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) chain-of-custody accreditation through the SmartWood forestry certification programme.

The company, set up in 1987 to build an aluminium/wood composite window using the Spilka fully reversible projecting hinge, says green products are becoming increasingly important to its customer base.

FSC certification was encouraged through its association with Colonial Craft, which now supplies the FSC-certified wood used in the company’s window frames.

Tom Gillespie, dealer sales representative at H Window Company, said: “The bottom line is that this is what the customer wants. Being certified allows us to meet our customers needs and expectations, as well as doing the right thing for our environment.”

H Window sales topped 14 million in 1999, 40 years after the Spilka technology was first invented in Norway.
