Gunns Ltd of Tasmania intends to spend about A$30m converting a 1,500ha dairy farm into plantation timber.
The company bought the Evercreech property in Fingal Valley for about A$10m. Some of the land will be retained for grazing.
Trees grown at Evercreech will form part of Gunns’ future wood supply for its sawn timber, veneer and pulp operations.
