Swedish forest products federation Skogs Industrierna has welcomed a new government action plan for the country’s forestry industry.
The government’s plan includes an ambitious goal for a 20% increase in Swedish forest product exports by 2020.
“The Swedish forest industry is currently in an exciting phase with the development of many new advanced products with high added value,” said Marie Arwidson, CEO of Skogs Industrierna’s forest industries division.
The action plan takes a holistic approach to forestry issues and the industry.
Meanwhile, industry publication EUWID says the Swedish sawmilling industry is set to increase its production capacity by 2.4 million m³ by 2012, following new investments by Holmen, Norra Skogsägarna, Södra, Gällö Timber and others.
