Virtual market place IHB – the International Timber Exchange has reported 1.8 million visitors since re-launching its website a year ago.

The site, www.timber-exchange.com, also had 61,000 log-ins and in excess of 11.5 million page impressions. More than 200,000 professionals met with each other on the trading platform each month, ranging from forest owners to sawmills and timber construction companies.

More than 5,000 members in 118 countries have been attracted to the resource, which is available in five languages – German, English, French, Spanish and Italian.

IHB’s virtual stock, which includes timber, machinery and services, now turns over twice per month, more than doubling the numbers reported in January. The veneers category has seen an “enormous growth” in online trading volume, while an increase of more than 70% has been registered for timber construction materials.
