Grants to help British Woodworking Federation members achieve key certifications are to be made available.

The federation said ConstructionSkills is funding grants for 20 BWF members to save money when working toward ISO 9001 and group chain of custody certifications, as well as health and safety audits.

“Joinery companies across the country are under pressure to achieve ISO 9001 certification, which identifies an organisation as working to strict quality management practices,” said a spokesperson. “Chain of custody certification is also a desirable measure of a company’s best practice.”

Dave Campbell, manager of the BWF’s training forum, said: “The grant is available to 20 members and our calculations show that non-members could save money by joining and taking advantage of the grant.”
