A £1m grant will boost native woodlands and help a new woodland strategy get started in the Scottish Borders.
At present the region has one of the lowest levels of native woodland cover in Scotland but that is set to change thanks to a new strategy developed by Scottish Borders Council, Forestry Commission Scotland and other key groups.
The £1m grant is spread over two years and Forestry Commission Scotland said landowners should get their applications in as soon as possible as projects will be funded on a first come first served basis.
