Grange Fencing’s 140th anniversary celebrations this year are taking a science fiction theme, with the company selecting an image from the 1969 moon landing to represent its success to date.
The Telford-based manufacturer’s new brochure has a front page photo of astronauts on the moon next to a superimposed round pergola with a caption “A stylish addition to your rock garden”.
Grange said the space theme was also chosen because the company was launched in the same decade as science fiction writer HG Wells was born and Jules Verne’s From the Earth to the Moon was published..
The company started fence production and erection in the Newport area of Shropshire in 1868. It is now the largest fence manufacturer in the UK, producing more than 2,900 miles of fencing and trellis in 2007, enough to stretch from London to Kuwait City.
