Grange Fencing is proudly sponsoring local Shropshire Paralympic archer Peter Higgins in his ambition to compete in the 2012 London Paralympic Games.

Mr Higgins, whose mobility was severely affected in a mountaineering accident while working with the Royal Air Force Mountain Rescue Team in 1992, underwent a series of rigorous assessment processes by the GB Disability Archery squad and the UK Talent Team before being placed with the sport. He is ranked at second in the country for his class within Paralympic Archery.

All members of the Paralympic squad are carrying out the final preparations prior to the start of the first of two selection weekends commencing April 27-29, following a final weekend shoot on May 18-20.

“Peter’s skill, passion, and determination will ensure that he gives this significant opportunity to represent his country his very best shot and that, ultimately, he fulfils his dream of making a podium position,” said a Grange Fencing spokesperson.

“We’re very proud to sponsor a local sportsman of Peter’s calibre and we wish him the very best of luck in the upcoming selection shoot and look forward to following his progress over the coming weeks.”
