The report states that forest areas are increasing in developed countries thanks to sustainable management, while developing countries continue to lose forest areas.

Moreover, the UN FAO has claimed that those countries which continue to lose forest have inadequate systems and organisations to reverse the trend.

It wants to see investments made to improve access to information and the quality of data regarding the forests in sub-Saharan countries in to ensure forestry decisions are made on sound data, as well as greater attempts made to nsure sustainable forest management does not impede economic progress throughout the world.
