The events takes place alongside each other from 16-18 October in Bordeaux.

According to FEFPEB president Gil Covey, hundreds of industry representatives will attend from across Europe and around the world.

"We will welcome representatives of the packaging and pallet industry from the USA, Canada, South Africa, South America, Australasia and Asia-Pacific," he said.

Entitled "Creating worldwide objectives for the wooden pallet and packaging industry", the event will feature discussions and presentations on subjects ranging from latest developments in the ISPM15 phytosanitary standard and international timber sector trends, to the activities of the European wood manufacturing industry organisation CEI-Bois. The impact of the EU Timber Regulation will also be a core topic of debate.

"Regulatory decisions affecting our industry are increasingly being made at the global level, so during Interpal VIII we want to take the opportunity to organise on a worldwide basis to deal with organsiations, such as the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC), in a coordinated fashion," said Mr Covey. "[It will also be an opportunity] for delegates to meet with counterparts from other countries to discuss thse mutually important issues face to face."

FEFPEB will also give an overview of its Packaging from Nature campaign, promoting the using timber. This now operates in seven languages and is active in most of the organisation’s 14 member countries.
