Gibson Guitars chief executive Henry Juskiewicz will be a keynote speaker at the US International Wood Products Association Convention, sharing his company’s experience of being investigated under the anti-illegal timber Lacey Act.
Gibson first fell foul of the Act in 2008 when it was investigated for allegedly using illegally sourced Madagascan rosewood. Last year its premises were raided again over allegations that Indian ebony it used also breached the Act.
As well as addressing these investigations, Mr Juskiewicz will give his view on what is “next for the music industry regarding sustainable forest management and trade of tropical forest products”.
The IWPA Convention will also include workshops on Lacey Act compliance. It takes place from March 28-30 in Indian Wells, California.
