Timber and wood exports totalling 437,000m3 earned Ghana €169m between January and November last year.
The earnings are 1% down on 2001 due to increases in utility tariffs, difficulties securing logs, plus high export levies on some products.
About 61% of the exports’ value came from European sales, while timber was also sold to Asia and the Far East, other parts of Africa, the Middle East, the US and the Pacific Rim. Ceiba was the most popular species.
