Germany’s national forest certification system has been re-endorsed by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) schemes Council.

The German scheme, which was revised in an extensive re-endorsement process, will now carry the PEFC name for another five years, until 2010.

The PEFC Council said the overwhelming majority of the country’s 40 million m3 annual timber harvest comes from PEFC-certified forests. More than 550 producers and retailers of forest products are now sourcing their raw materials from PEFC forests.
