Association of German Machinery and Industrial Equipment Manufacturers representative Ingo Bette said he expected wood exports, particularly furniture, to soar.

Vietnam’s exports of wooden goods hit US$1.35bn in the first nine months of this year, compared to an estimated US$1.5bn last year. And it is forecast that total wood products exports may reach US$2bn this year, 10 times more than five years ago.

Woodworkers from Vietnam have already signed up to visit Ligna 2007 in Hannover, Germany on May 14-18 next year.
