The Santa Cruz-based company believes there has been a sea change in attitudes towards green building during 2006, with people anxious about rising fuel costs and the spectre of global warming.

Gaudet has built a 3,200ft2 log home with environmental features in Kelseyville, Clear Lake.

Green features include sustainably sourced Canadian timber, heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems, non-toxic wood stains and techniques to eliminate toxic glues and resins.

McGraw-Hill’s 2006 construction forecasts say the green residential market will be worth US$38bn by 2010.
