FSC UK said builders, architects, local authorities, housing associations and environmental organisations involved in building projects could benefit from the assurance that timber has been responsibly sourced.
Projects successfully carried out using the standard will be eligible to use the FSC mark for promotion on buildings and in publicity materials.
A third and final draft of the project certification standard (FSC-STD-40-006) is now available for comment and will be presented to the FSC board for approval in June.
Stakeholder feedback has led to several changes in the draft, including the addition of an option for partial project certification where schemes are unable to meet full project certification.
Another addition is an option to calculate the 50% minimum threshold of FSC and/or recycled material by cost or volume of the total wood used for the project.
