Bristol-based Clarks Wood Co Ltd supplied 60m3 of the decking to form a complete roof deck on the 10-storey building. A crane was used to lift the product onto the roof.

The deck, more than three football pitches long and 6m wide, is designed as a relaxing space for people to exercise or rest, with views across the city.

Clarks Woods said it was able to fulfill the FSC order on time despite patchy shipments of the product and rising prices.

Fort Dunlop has been redeveloped by Urban Splash into a high-profile commercial space and 100-bed Travelodge. The landmark building, due to officially open in December, is clearly visible from the M6.
