James Jones & Sons Ltd says it has secured new contracts with environmentally-conscious builders after gaining Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) chain of custody certification for its range of engineered floor joists.

The company, which says its JJI-Joists are the first engineered floor joists to achieve FSC certification, said feedback from the market had been “positive”.

Tom Bruce-Jones, director of the company’s timber systems division, said additional shifts were implemented at the Forres JJI-Joist production plant earlier this year in anticipation of business growth from the FSC certification. The company has also taken on more designers.

James Jones, which was audited by BM TRADA Certification, has also identified three main FSC-accredited suppliers of raw materials for JJI-Joists – Norbord, SCA and Setra.
