The two-storey house, complete with pitched roof, internal staircase and windows and doors, was constructed at the National Railway Museum, York. The four-man Frame UK team had been tasked with building a house in five hours.
Redruth-based Frame UK had further reasons to celebrate at the conference. Its customer Advantage South West (ASW) was named winner in the new build sector category.
ASW, formed from four of the West Country’s leading developing landlords, aims to design and procure a range of standard house types using modern methods of construction. It has a supply chain agreement with Frame UK.
“Cutting build times by 50% with the associated savings in labour costs and an improved rent stream from early occupation must be the way forward if we are to tackle the curent national shortage of affordable housing,” said ASW chairman David Renwick.
