A fourth sawmill is to close in New South Wales, Australia, in the wake of the state government decision to create new community conservation areas in the Brigalow Belt region.

The owner of the Gwabegar Sawmill, Tom Underwood, is considering taking an exit package along with three mills at Baradinem Narrabri and Bingara – and he believes others will follow suit.

Mr Underwood said the new conservation areas and quota reductions have left him with fewer and smaller cypress pines to log.
