E-Business for Forestry has digitised sales, standardised electronic documentation and even allows deliveries to be authorised remotely as lorry drivers can access the commission’s dispatch system from their mobile phone and receive permission to pick up loads at any time of the day.

“We need to be constantly innovating to stay competitive,” said Tim Rollinson, director-general of the Forestry Commission.

“The commission also has a duty to the taxpayer to achieve value for money. E-Business for Forestry helps us to achieve both of these objectives.”

The Government Computing Awards for Innovation are held to recognise the latest developments in public sector technology and see a wide range of companies from different industries battling it out in a number of categories.
