The government has published its response to forestry experts’ recommendations on the implementation of the Forestry Strategy for England.
Forestry minister Elliot Morley said: ‘Responding to the recommendations has been a real challenge. Some of the proposals go further than is feasible at the moment but we have looked positively at each and every recommendation.’
England Forestry Forum’s 47 recommendations covered issues including training, land regeneration, protection of ancient woodlands and community forestry.
The government will now work with the Forum and other groups to implement the recommendations.
