Thousands of mahogany logs alleged to have been stolen from three protected forests in Central Lombok, Indonesia have been seized by police.
Three forestry officials are being questioned on two counts – the felling of protected trees which were alive and abusing a decree which states that only dead trees can be cut.
The forestry officials maintain that the logs were from dead trees in the forest and that permission to cut them down and sell them had been obtained.
