The Commission’s Valuation of Forestry for People report said that while timber production and processing remained an important supporter of jobs, woodland-based attractions supported up to 20,000 jobs.
The Commission also said recreation and tourism contributed £250m a year to Scotland’s economy and visits to forests were worth about £40m a year to people while views of woodland from homes were worth up to £39m a year to people.
