Foresters had the opportunity to learn how to develop their people skills at a seminar in Scotland on Wednesday June 26.

Organised by the Forestry Commission and the Institute of Chartered Foresters, the seminar, entitled ‘Involving People in Forest Planning’, set out to show how foresters can encourage public involvement.

Forestry Commission rural development adviser John Risby said: “The government’s and the Scottish Executive‘s commitment to include people in forest planning is set out in the UK Forestry Standard and the Scottish Forestry Strategy. The strategy states that Scottish forests should be developed in ways that create opportunities for more people to enjoy trees, woods and forests and that helps communities to benefit from them.”
