An exhibition showcasing the use of local wood by craftsmen is being hosted by the Forest of Avon.

The Good Wood Exhibition at Ashton Court Visitor Centre, which runs until November 3, will feature a collection of handmade products from local timber and photographs of wood, woodland and woodworking.

The event has been put together by Forest of Avon Products, which runs the Good Wood Project to encourage use of locally-grown wood rather than timber transported in from other areas.

Its company secretary Jim O’Shaughnessy said: “By buying locally-made items, people are encouraging the management of local woodland.” The project has received a lottery grant of £47,000 and £20,000 from the Countryside Agency.
